11 weeks from today is my birthday. If my goal is to lose about 15 pounds (actually, 12-17 pounds), I need to lose 1.5 pounds a week. Sounds easy, but not really. From my extensive experience, I know that I can't lose weight quickly; my metabolism moves at the speed of molasses in January. I'm going to have to be very careful, and endure some hunger.
Anyone want to join me?

I'll give it another shot. Let's do it.....
I've missed you girls! I cannot afford to gain any more weight considering I still need to lose weight from last year! I would be thrilled to lose 15 pounds and keep it off but I will be content with 10. Can't do it on my own. Glad to have the help.
OK girls. Let's do it. I'm going to post about my progress every day. This is the only thing that will keep me honest.
Would you like me to make you contributors? Then you can post. Let me know.
Anyone else who likes can join us.
for what it's worth, I used weightlossresources.com to help me lose weight. It's a British site, and I'm sure there are other comparable sites in the U.S., but it's the one I used.
I was around 205 when I started (I'm a guy, 6'1", 51 y/o) I thought that if I could just get back to 190-195, I'd be happy. The site tells you how many calories you can have a day to lose around 2 pounds a week. The site allows input what you're eating (it gives you the calories for tons of name brands, etc) and input your exercise, etc. If you faithfully keep track of things, you will lose what you want, and more.
I found that once the pounds started to drop, I wanted to keep going, and with the habits I'd developed using the site, it wasn't that hard. I eventually got down to 175, and have kept the there for over a year now.
I only comment here to encourage ya'll to carry through on what you appear anxious to do, and let you know what, I think, is a great way develop new habits.
Best of Luck!
Thank you, uh, Cranky, for the encouragement! And congratulations on your success.
Yes, once you get going, it's self-motivating. Getting over inertia is the hard part.
Thanks for the resource. :)
